A Ministry to the
Homeless & Needy
Tucson , Arizona
Hope of Glory Ministries is dedicated to helping the homeless and needy people of Tucson and Pima County, Arizona. Our first call is to exhibit the love of Christ by our attitude and service, and then to see that Christ is formed in them through presenting the Gospel. We intend to provide an inner-city full-service shelter facility, The Hope Center, for the housing, teaching, and restoring of Tucson's most precious resource--its men, women and children.
NEWS!
Hope of Glory Ministries is in beginning stages of developing Phase I of The Hope Center: A 1-story 25-50-bed facility for medical respite care (acute and post-acute medical care for homeless persons who are too ill or frail to recover from a physical illness or injury on the streets, but who are not ill enough to be in a hospital). Our model, though not as extensive, is the Barbara McInnis House in Boston. www.bhchp.org.
We desire to build or acquire an existing building on a 10 acre parcel (this land will allow us to also build Phase 2-see "future Hope Center", and Phase 3, family transitional housing) within the following area: N. Broadway, S. I-10, E. Kino Pkwy, W. Mission Rd.
Anyone with any interest in joining us in this necessary development, please contact us.
What we do:
We serve a hot meal to the homeless and needy twice monthly on the property of an inner city church. We also provide a service, clothing, spiritual materials, personal hygiene items, phone cards and bus tickets. During the week we maintain office hours and provide many of the same services but with snacks and a pantry for the homeless. We also distribute Community Food Bank emergency food boxes on Wednesdays and invite those folks as well to “shop” in our clothing room and attend Bible Studies. We endeavor to build a relationship with our guests and if necessary, direct them to needed services in Tucson.
Who we are:
In 1996 a group from Faith Community Church, desiring to minister to the needy of inner city Tucson, joined with members of Church on the Street, Phoenix, who had been coming to Tucson monthly to feed and minister to the homeless. Since then we (and members of several other churches) have been ministering twice a month on Sundays (to 80-120 men, women and children) at various inner city locations. In November of 1999, we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization, The Hope of Glory Center, Inc. In 2003 we opened an office on the property of Inner City Harvesters Church to serve the needy during the week.
We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization.
