Pray with Us for the PoorFather, you have given us the mandate to defend the poor and fatherless; to do justice to the afflicted and needy. (Ps 82:3) James tells us that pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. (Ja1:27) Lord, bring us the strangers, the prisoners, the sick, the needy, the hungry and the naked for as we meet the needs of the least of these, Jesus said we are doing it for Him! (Mt 25:35-40) For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. (Ps 9:18) God will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. (Ps 72:12) He will save their souls. (Ps 72:13) He also saves the needy from the sword; He brings justice to the poor and saves their children, breaking in pieces the oppressor. (Job 5:15 & Ps 72:4) For the LORD executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. (Ps 103:6) The poor will never cease from the land; therefore we obey Your command and open our hands wide to our brothers, to the poor and your needy, in our land. (Deut 15:11) We will not despise our neighbor’s sins; but we have mercy on the poor, and are happy, (Prov 14:21) knowing that those who have pity on the poor, lend to the LORD, and He will pay back what we have given. (Prov 19:17) Blessed is he who considers the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. (Ps 41:1) But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? (I Jn 3:17) When we reap our harvest we let a portion of it be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and the LORD our God blesses us in all the work of our hands. (Deut 24:19, 29) We invite the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind to eat with us and we will be blessed because they cannot repay us; for we shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just. (Luke 14:13-14) The love of God abides in us therefore we share this world’s goods with our brother in need. (I Jn 3:17) He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise. (Luke 3:11) As we show mercy to the poor, we break off our sins by being righteous, and our iniquities by showing mercy. Therefore we lengthen our prosperity. (Dan 4:27) We have dispersed abroad and have given to the poor; and our righteousness endures forever; we will be exalted with honor. (Ps 112:9) We are blessed as we consider the poor; the LORD will deliver us in time of trouble. (Ps 41:1) As a generous soul, I will be made rich, and as I water, will also be watered myself. (Prov 11:25) "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35) Then my light shall break forth like the morning, my healing
shall spring forth speedily, and my righteousness shall go before me;
the glory of the LORD shall be my rear guard. Then I shall call, and the
LORD will answer; I shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' "If
you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and
speaking wickedness; If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy
the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your
darkness shall be as the noonday. The LORD will guide you continually,
and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall
be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do
not fail." Those from among us shall build the old waste places;
we shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and we shall be
called the Repairers of the Breach, the Restorers of Streets to Dwell
In. (Isa 58:8-12)
