Future Hope Center

Another emergency shelter facility is vital for Tucson. What we propose is a 36,000 sq. ft. facility for men, women and children with on-site services. There is currently NO facility that will accommodate in-tact families with the many services needed by them. We believe that a safe, quality and controlled environment will allow many of the guests to begin to get their lives back together—to receive the HOPE they need in order to escape the cycles of poverty and addiction that they have succumb to. We have no illusions that this will be an easy task—or even a desired outcome by many, but it is the RIGHT thing to do for members of our community.
Volunteer staffing from various faith communities will facilitate the forming of relationships with the intent of guests being invited to participate in the activities of these faith communities and receive the support and even mentoring they will need in transition to becoming productive citizens.
Some of the on-site services we intend to offer at Hope Center are:
- Daycare,
- GED and literacy classes,
- Charter elementary school,
- ESL classes,
- Parenting classes,
- 12 step groups,
- A cottage industry,
- Community evening meals,
- Job counseling and placement,
- Detox beds,
- Medical respite care beds and infirmary (a huge community need),
- Social service agency offices (DES, Social Security, etc.)
- Mental health services,
- Veteran services,
- A variety of counseling opportunities, including spiritual counseling and prayer.
A 10-acre parcel is desired for a truck garden AND to accomodate future family transitional housing.
How do we intend to fund this huge undertaking? By getting our community mobilized to help the needy! IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILIITY IS TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED. Our forefathers never relied on the government to do this and we are foolish to think government is even able to continue to do so. The social service community is stretched to the max today—dropping services daily to compensate—and the outlook for tomorrow is certainly no better. NOW is the time for grass roots involvement.
